The Modern Mystery School
The Modern Mystery School is one of seven authentic mystery schools in the world and the only one that is open to the public. The seven mystery schools span across the world; Tibet, Africa, Japan, Romania, England, Australia, and North America—each one anchoring a different energy and upholding a unique purpose for the wellbeing of our planet. Due to the unimaginable perseverance of the extraordinary Founder Gudni GED Gudnason, the seventh mystery school was opened to the public as the Modern Mystery School in 1997.
While MMS is based in North America, it currently has over 43,000 initiates representing over 55 different countries. Many say that to experience the many expressions of people called to this work is to in many ways, experience the microcosm of the macrocosm.
The Modern Mystery School is the container by which the tools and transformative power of the Lineage of King Salomon are made available to the public. While the lineage goes back over 3,000 years to King Salomon of which many of our tools are attributed to, the lineage goes beyond 8,000 years to the direct written record and teaching lineage of Hermes Trismegistus. Hermetics, Kabbalah, Alchemy, Esoterica, Shamanism, and many of the world’s magicks are studied here.
The Mystery School does not follow any one religion and welcomes all who want to progress on the path of Know Thyself.
Leadership & Energy Flow
Every lineage has primary key holders—individuals entrusted with anchoring the lineage on Earth and holding the authority to keep the mystery school’s doors open to those who seek the Light.
In the Modern Mystery School, these key holders are known as the Third Order. Three men hold this responsibility and male aspect of the school's anchoring. The Council of 12 is made up of 12 women (6 in the East, 6 in the West). These women are the vital female counterpart to the leadership of the mystery school.
Together, they uphold the integrity of the lineage, ensuring the purity of its teachings and practices. Together, they function to replicate and harmonize the flow of masculine and feminine energies.
The Mission

The Path
What endearingly is referrred to as “The Path”, is the path of initiation of which the lineage is built off of. As MMS states:
“To ‘initiate’ means to begin a process, to start something. Initiation sets forces in motion for your own personal metamorphosis, transformation and spiritual journey. All of your own experiences and knowledge of your journey up to this point are only enhanced with the knowledge, keys and energy received through the Modern Mystery School initiation process.
Initiation serves to ground the spiritual energies you are wielding such as light, power and protection. These forces become anchored into your energy field so that you will be able to readily access these energies through your mental, emotional and physical capacities to support you in daily life choices, tasks and actions.
The handing down of knowledge that prepares you for initiation creates a template for living an empowered life, opening up the potential to master yourself and create the life which you truly desire. The initiation then activates this knowledge with spiritual power to support you to be in alignment with your highest and best good, to live out your purpose here on earth. The advancement of your connection with yourself is the process known as Know Thyself.
